When you eat meat it should make you feel good not bad. It should nourish your body not leave you feeling bloated with a stomach ache. This is how traditionally raised meat from both restaurants and grocery stores made us feel, so what did we do? We stopped eating it.

We only ate meat that we could harvest through hunting ourselves, this meant NO chicken for over a year! When we started eating wild meat we began feeling better. When we began researching what goes into the meat we were consuming we were horrified, so we decided to raise our own beef and pork because (after all I really missed bacon) and wouldn’t you know it the animals we raised tasted so much better!

Over the years we have found a demand for meat raised the way we raise ours, so we started to raise meat for other families as well as our own. To this day we only eat meat that was raised on the farm, and we feel great knowing how our food was raised and made it to our plate.

We bought the farm in 2010 with no real plan for farming, just a want to raise our unborn children on a farm. We started with our first cows in 2012 and have grown from those first 7 to over 60 mamma cows, bulls and a milk cow. We took a holistic management course early into our farming journey and it has been monumental is helping us understand that we can’t just open the gate and harvest our animals in the fall. We have learned with the right management we can improve our land which improves the taste of the meat, as well as the nutrition which makes us feel better.
